When it comes to what’s on trend and in-style today in the Indian wedding scene, the options are endless! Soon-to-be-brides can go as contemporary or as traditional as they like for their trousseau, and our designers and that includes our very own Anju Goyal from Silk and Sparkle, are on the dial when it comes to knowing what our brides and brides-to-be are looking for.

Whether it’s selecting an option for a pre-wedding function or the wedding day itself there is so much on offer. And that’s the great part, that you can now have a trousseau that is truly a reflection of you.

Here are some of the season’s hottest looks, that you should know about, and a must try for any bride or wedding guest!

1. The Saree-Inspired Gown

""

The saree-gown is so stylish and elegant, the perfect blend of contemporary and traditional. You can achieve the grace and elegance of the saree and also enjoy the stylishness of a contemporary sillhouette of a gown. This is ideal for a cocktail or reception function. A trend which started off around five years ago, it’s now one that’s definitely here to stay.

What’s great about the saree gown is that you can go as fitted and slim-line as you like, or really bring in the gown affect with a train or boufant skirt.

2. The Gown

""

The gown is another popular ingredient to a bride’s trousseau, allowing her to be modern but retain the grandness of a traditional Indian outfit with all the embellishments and work that you’ll find in a more traditional Indian outfit. While getting all the more royal and glamorous with a gown. This is a hugely popular option for a cocktail night, or wedding reception event for the bride. Or even if you’re the bride/groom’s sister this is a nice ensemble for any wedding function for you too!

3. The Shirt & Lehenga Skirt

""

This is a big trend which has taken-off in the last 12 months and is only getting more popular. First it started off with notable fashionistas sporting the look created by their sylists. Next thing you know the shirt and lehenga skirt combination was on all major ramp shows, and then carried off by uber-cool bride-to-be’s and her guests.

It might sound a little odd, but it sure does make for a very stylish outfit, which we predict will only get more popular!

Something you could definitely wear at a mehendi, cocktail or other pre-wedding event you’ll definitely make a style statement with the look.

4. Tassel Show

""

You might have noticed the tassels on Katrina Kaif’s choli in the chart-buster Kala Chasma, but that’s not the only place!

Tassels have taken off big-time in the Indian fashion scene and they’re only getting bigger. Designers like Manish Malhotra and Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla are avid users of thisemblishment technique this season.

Today you’ll see it on lehengas, gowns, sarees, and basically everything you can think of. Tassels make for a very glamorous look no matter the outfit. It would be perfect to wear a tassel embelished blouse with a lehenga on your cocktail or sangeet night for sure!

5. Feather Golore

""

Feather trimmings on Indian outfits are also all the rage today, with sarees, saree-blouses, lehengas, gowns and more have all been experimented with.

The look gives off a very fantastical look and is another style which can be worn at all functions. Very modern, very chic, this layering style gives a soft very feminine look when worn!
